apprentice engineer
Jackson Fire & Security are pleased to welcome our new apprentice engineer Cameron Smart to the team at our Mold head office. Our steady growth throughout the North Wales & Cheshire region has led the need to expand our team and we were keen to channel some of the young talent in the local area. Cameron from Mold, is currently finishing off his City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation at Coleg Cambria, whilst working with us three days a week until he becomes full time here in the summer. He has already hit the ground running helping to service fire extinguishers for a variety of our business customers across the region, in addition to installing new smoke detectors for our own office fire alarm.  Through our partners, Delyn Safety, Cameron was site safe from day one having attended a range of health and safety courses in his first two weeks including manual handling, asbestos awareness, working at height and ladder safety training. Cameron has been given a bespoke structured training programme and allocated a designated mentor from our team of experienced engineers. He will develop technical skills in all aspects of fire and security including alarm systems, fire extinguishers, access control systems and CCTV. Cameron is more than happy with the start he has made to his new career:
“Every day is different and it’s great spending time with such a knowledgeable group of engineers and learning the process for fire and security installations, pre-planned maintenance and corrective call-outs. “I am looking forward to developing my technical skills by making use of the in-house training suite, along with the industry-accredited courses specialising in fire and security systems.”
Founder and managing director Steve Jackson said:
“Cameron is exactly the type of person we were looking for to start an engineering apprenticeship with us. He is enthusiastic, keen to learn and has great people skills which is key for us when visiting customer premises. “I am confident Cameron will become a valued member of our fire and security engineering team for many years to come.”
