A team of fire and security engineers are returning to the college they trained at as part of a major contract win for a Mold-based business. Jackson Fire & Security has won a tender to supply fire safety services to Coleg Cambria’s four North Wales campuses. The new contract will see four of the company’s engineers, all of which previously trained at the college, return to fit an industry-leading fire safety system. The contract win is Jackson Fire & Security’s latest in the education sector, having established a reputation for providing outstanding services to schools, colleges and universities across North Wales and Cheshire. Project manager Chris Brooks will lead the installation, which will see Jackson Fire & Security’s engineers Scott Hughes, Dave Williams, Andy Shone and Kerry Blackwell, return to the college where they studied electrical engineering. Chris said: “All four members of the team are enjoying being back at Coleg Cambria and helping keep staff and students safe while they study. “All four blocks at the Bersham Road campus will be fully networked and can communicate with each other. “The Siemens Cerberus Pro system has been specifically chosen for its suitability for educational establishments. It can be tailored to meet the demands of different environments, for example having different settings for a science lab, compared to a server room. “The overall aim of the project is to eliminate any potential for false alarms in the future - this will save the college time and money.” The new alarm system will take ten weeks to install. Jackson Fire & Security also maintains fire alarm systems on the Deeside, Northop and Llysfasi sites. Coleg Cambria’s Head of Estates & Facilities, Rick Bedson: “Coleg Cambria is delighted to be working with Jackson Fire & Security on this new installation at our Bersham Road site, especially using this new Siemens "smart" technology. “The installation of this new fire protection and alarm system will enhance the safety of all who use the premises and reduce the probability of false alarms. “It is also good to see former Coleg Cambria students making full use of the skills and expertise acquired at the College working for such a prestigious local company.” Jackson Fire & Security is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of fire and security systems. It has branches in Liverpool, Warrington, Wirral, Mold, Leeds, Cambridge and Glasgow. Jackson Fire & Security employs 35 people across its six UK branches. Formed in 1991, the company has built a reputation for quality, reliability and service, and is a Siemens’ gold-accredited partner for fire systems. JacksonFire3
