Jackson Fire & Security awarded fire safety contract for North Wales’ largest housing association

North Wales head-quartered Jackson Fire & Security have been successfully awarded a fire safety contract with Gwynedd housing association Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG). As North Wales’ largest housing association, CCG manage 6,300 homes and are responsible for the management and maintenance of these properties. The majority of the properties are located in the county’s main towns of Bangor, Caernarfon, Pwllheli, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Dolgellau and Y Bala but they have property across the county in towns, villages and rural areas. As part of their housing stock, CCG have a number of sheltered units for older and more vulnerable individuals. The Gwynedd social landlord went out to public tender for the maintenance of their fire safety systems with companies invited to submit a proposal through Welsh procurement portal Sell2Wales. Following the submission of their bid, Jackson Fire & Security were invited to an interview at CCG’s headquarters in Bangor as part of the two-stage tender process. The fire and security firm scored top marks for this part of the process and were complemented on the quality of their submission. Jackson Fire & Security were awarded the contract in March 2018 to service and maintain the fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting across 233 properties for the housing group. The new partnership includes carrying out weekly and monthly tests of the fire alarm systems in addition to the 6-monthly servicing, meaning CCG can demonstrate the highest level of compliance when it comes to fire safety. The Mold-based fire and security specialists hit the ground running in March by taking over the monitoring of the fire alarms and replacing the existing alarm monitoring devices with CSL Dualcom G2. Dualcom are the industry leader trusted to protect hundreds of thousands of premises throughout Europe. Jackson Fire & Security Group Operations Director Rob Jones said: “Over the last five years we have become accustomed to delivering large contracts across multiple sites whilst maintaining high levels of customer service. This gave us the confidence to bid for the CCG contract knowing that we could deliver the contract but also add value to the agreement. “One particular requirement as part of the tendering process was to demonstrate that we could deliver a live customer portal for immediate reporting allowing instant access to job sheets, quotes and invoices. The experience we had dealing with customers who have similar sites to CCG has given us the assurance our online system could deliver this request. “We have really enjoyed the start to this contract and we have found CCG particularly well-organised and efficient to deal with which makes our job easier in mobilising our engineers to their sites.
